Rommel Visits Caxambas Republican Club

Published Friday, October 27, 2017

Florida Freshman Representative Bob Rommel is quick to admit that he is a businessman who wants to get things done using common sense. As a freshman Florida Representative, he went to Tallahassee with his own ideas of the types of issues he’d want to be involved in. He wanted to get involved in business-related issues; healthcare was also on the top of his list. But the bill he worked the hardest on and got the most feeling of satisfaction from was HB 249, which mandates EMTs and paramedics to report overdoses to the Florida Department of Health. Like most citizens of Collier County, Rommel did not think there was an opioid problem here in Collier County, and not in Marco Island. When he first introduced the bill, Bob received pushback from hospitals, doctors and even from his own colleagues from both the House and Senate. House Bill 249 was signed by Governor Scott and Bob is hopeful the bill will save lives.
